                              A.      LOW PRESSURE BOILER MODELS.

                               i.        Model of Locomotive Boiler.  

                                    The model is especially designed to under stand the working of  a locomotive steam boiler.  The steel shell is of 20 cm dia. & 60 cm in length.  The fire box is provided with a door &  gate.  The dessected barrel shows  its inside   view.  Hot   gasses after passing through the fire tubes   enter   the   smoke box with a door , nozzle & the blast  pipe. The  model is approx. 100 cm. in length,  45 cm high & 35 cm in breadth & is complete with whistle steam bome, safety valve, check valve, steam regulator, water & steam gauges.

                   ii.       Model of Babcock & Wilcox Boiler.                      

                                    It is a water tube boiler.  The shell is 15 cm. in dia.& 75 cm . in length & is fitted with a super heated & with  inclined water tubes over the furnace connected with headers. The model is fitted with stop valve. Safety valve water gauge, steam gauge, manhole, mudhole.

                   iii.      Model of Cornish Boiler                                       

                                    In appearance this boiler model is similar to Lanchashire boiler   with the difference
that one fire tube passes for end to end.

                   iv.      Model of Lanchastrtre Boiler.                              

                                    Shell is 75 cm long 22 cm dia. two large tubes pass from end to end. At the front of each tube a furnace fire grating   is placed   &   a   door is high.    Brick work as seating     &    fules     are     shown   in  wood work.  The boiler   is     complete     with   dead   weight safety valve,  manhole, mudhole,   check valve, high steam & low water gauges,  regulating     draught     doors,     with    counter               weights   &   chimney.     The     model    is   approx.  one meter in length 37  cm   in   breadth   &  45 cm high.  It is specially made dissectible for demonstration.

                   v.       Model of Cochran Boiler.                                     

                                    This is the best known vertical type fire tube boiler.  The shell is 25 cm. in dia. & 60 cm high.  The cylindrical  fire box is with a door & gate at it’s bottom.  Hot gasses pass from the fuel with the combustion chamber through the tubes.  At both ends of the tubes covers are given & tubes can be cleaned after their removal.  The model is complete with feed check valve, steam & water gauges, stop valve, safety valve & manhole.

                   vi.      Model of Marcet Boiler.                                        

                                    A stove heated working model, giving working pressure of 45 LBS. per square inch., the vessel is 20 cm in dia. & valve, thermometer jacket, pressure gauge & tripod stand

                   vii.     Vertical Water Tube Boiler.                                

                                    It   is fitted inside a cylindrical fire box to increase the heating surface & improve the circulation of water, the fire box is fitted with cross tubes.  The model is complete with stop valve.  Check valve, safety valve, manhole water gauge steam gauge etc.

 

          B.      HIGH PRESSURE BOILER MODELS.                   

 

                   i.        Model Of Loeffler Boiler                                       

                                    This     is   high   pressure boiler.    It   consists   of    an ecconomiser.    Drum  radiant super heater & circulating pump.  The model is mounted on sturdy wooden base.

                   ii.       Model for Lamount Boiler                                    

                                    This is  typical high pressure boiler.  It is constructed so that   to    demonstrate the steam & water circulate.  The fuel gas    circulates   by the feed pump economizer, the steam outlet

                   iii.      Model for Benson Boiler                           

                                    This    is  a  typical   high   pressure   boiler  .    It is constructed    to  demonstrate economizer, radiant evaporator,   residual   evaporator   &   initial   super heater    radian     super    heater,     &   connection super heater.

                   iv.      Model of Velox Boiler                                           

                                    This   typical    high pressure boiler.  It is constructed  so that   to     demonstrate   the  ecconomer feed pump steam separating section, water circulating pump, & connection super heater.  It is also demonstrate the gas turbine & air compressor 

 

            C.      STEAM ENGINE MODELS.

 

                   i.        Model of Steam Engine.                             

                                    An all metallic & amaxing working model.  The brass cylinder   is   section   cut,  covered with a glass plate, complete with working parts, piston slide valves, link motion   &   reversing   method  can be observed.  The movement of  the wheel is light enough to demonstrate working seven by blowing with mouth.

                   ii.       Model of Steam Engine.                             

                                    As above but having cast aluminum cylinder.

                   iii.      Steam Engine Model With A Boiler.  

                                    Operation of commercial steam engine is well illustrated with    this   working model.  The extra large size unit is complete with a horizontal boiler with a whistle, safety valve,   steam   gauge & heating lamp & small dynamo             model.

                   iv.      Steam Engine ‘D’ Slode Valve.                   

                                    An   all   metallic   properly   constructed model, piston, cylinder & steam chest are shown in half section.  Two connecting rods, one connecting to sliding valve & the other to the piston are provided.  The whole assembly is fitted on a teak  wood base of 60 x 25 cm. size approx.

                   v.       Model of Piston Valve Steam Engine.         

                                    The cut way demonstration model showing the working of a piston valve steam engine. All metallic parts fitted on  near about 50 x 30 cm. well polished
wooden board.

                   vi.      Model of Compound Steam Engine                      

                                    A large size section cut demonstration model H.P cylinder is provided with a piston valve & D.P. with a valve complete with jacketed receiver mounted on a teak wood BOARD 65 X 50 cm. in size approx.

                   vii.     Model Uniflow Steam Engine.                              

                                    This demonstration model shows the working of a mild exhaust steam engine.  The cylinder is sectioned & at end drop valves are fitted through   which enters.  Complete with all important working parts bevel gears, cam shaft & levers etc. fitted on approx. 67 x 37 cm. size teak wood board.

                   viii.    Model of Drop Valve Steam Engine.         

                                    Sectional demonstration model separate steam & exhaust valves are provided at each of the cylinder four valve in all. Valves driven by cams give fixed points admission, cut off release & cushioning.  The eccentrics are mounted on a shaft that is operated with bevel gears complete fitted on 65 x 37 cm. approx. size teak wood board.

                   ix.      Model of Mayer Expansion valve Steam Engine

                                    The engine model is equipped with two slide valves which are operated by separate eccentrics showing the double   expansion  plates of the Mayer engine fitted on threaded spindle & can be simultaneously brought closer   & further away from each other.

 

                                    All the parts are of cast aluminum fitted on 55 x 30 cm approx. size of teak wood board. The design & operation of the Mayer expansion valve steam  engine can be conveniently studied with this section cut demonstration model.  

                   x.       Model of Corliss Valve Steam Engine.                

                                    In this sectional demonstration model four escalating valve are provided at each end of the cylinder two for admission & two for exhaust.  Valves are operated through  suitable links with a wrist plate which receive esillations   from   an   eccentric on the crank shaft.  Complete with all aluminum cast parts fitted on 80 x 40 cm. approx. size teak wood board. 

          D.      MODEL OF GAS TURBINE & GAS PLANT.

                    i.        Gas Turbine Model.

                                    The section cut model is constructed of light & strong showing   air  intake axial flow double stage compressor. Fuel supply, consumption chamber, turbine rotor exhaust etc. complete on wooden base size 45 x 20 x 25 cm approx. 

                   ii.       Model of Gas Turbine Plant.                          
                                               
It consists of :

                                                a. Two stage gas turbine model.

                                                b. Two stage air compressor model.

                                                c. Inter cooler for two stage air compressor.

                                                d. Regenerator.

                                                e. Combustion Chamber.

                                                f. Reheating Chamber.

                                    The all system is mounted on sturdy wooden base.  The layout of the whole system circuit dig. is printed on the wooden board.

                   iii.      Separating & Throttling Calorimeter.         
                                   
It consists of :
                                    a. Separating calorimeter.
                                    b. Water level gauge for separating calorimeter.
                                    c.
 Outer jacket for separating
                                    d. Orifice assembly for throttling of system.
                                    e. Glass Thermometer with thermovewell - 2 Nos.
                                    f. Pressure gauges - 2 Nos.
                                    g. Throttling vessel - 1 No.
                                    h. Condensaten collecting tank - 1 No

Necessary ball valves, needle valves,  will be provided to the equipment.

E.     MODELS OF BOILER MOUNTINGS & ACCESSORIES

 

1.         LEVER SAFETY VALVE

            An all metallic demonstration model showing the valve seat, fulcrum and lever with adjustable weight.

2.         SPRING LOADED SAFETY VALVE                                   

            The demonstration model having two separate valves with one lever bearing loaded by a spring.

3.         DEAD WEIGHT SAFETY VALVE                                         

            The valve resting on the seat the top of an outlet pipe are covered by a case carrying weights hanging freely from the valve.

4.         COMBINED HEIGHT STEAM AND LOW WATER SAFETY VALVE

            safety valve blows off when the steam pressure exceeds the working pressure, this high steam to escape as water level falls too low. A properly constructed model fitted on suitable base.

5.         WATER GAUGE MODEL                                                     

            An all metallic and properly constructed model. Upper and lower parts are with transparent inserts to make the interior construction visible and are connected by a hollow column. The unit is complete with cock and stuffings. Mounted on a polished wooden board.

6.         STOP VALVE HOPKINSON TYPE                                       

            The type of model has many advantages over ordinary design of junction stop valves. The construction and the method of operating the complicated model can be easily demonstrated with this all metallic section cut model.

7.         FEED CHECK VALVE

            All metallic section cut model. A good design of non return valve and arrangements for regulating by hand can be easily demonstrated with this all metallic section cut model.

8.         STEAM INJECTOR                                                             

            This cutway demonstration model is to understand the system of feeding a boiler with water by direct use of steam. Showing water and steam inlet, overflow outlet. The central cut spindle carries valve and the upper end with handle. The steam cone is actuated by rotating the handle. It is fitted on 45 cm high wooden board.

9.         PRESSURE GAUGE                                                            

            Bourdon’s type. Large size, open construction model for explaining the principle. Mounted on cast iron base with air nozzle. It is provide with transparent graduated dial to see the inner constructional details of the Bouron’s tube.

10.       PRESSURE GAUGE                                                            

            As above but of medium size 50 mm dia.

11.       BLOW OFF COCK                                                               

            An all metallic sectionised model mounted on cast iron base.

12.       REDUCING VALVE                                                              

            The function of this valve is to maintain a constant reduced pressure on the engine side while the higher pressure on the boiler side may be variable. It is a large size section cut model, to make the students understand its working.

13.       FUSIBLE PLUGS                                                                 

            A set of three, section cut & properly constructed models mounted on polished wooden base.

14.       ANTI –PRIMING PIPE                                                         

            The model is complete with seating of junction valve. The perforated pipe is about 30 cm long and 4 cm in diameter.

15.       EXPANSION STEAM TRAP                                               

            In this system the advantage is taken of the expansion of materials on heating. The unit is all metallic, section cut, mounted on 40 cm high wooden board.

16.       FLOAT STEAM TRAP                                                          

            This type is intended to separate water by a float which is raised when it accumulated in the trap, thus opening a valve and permitting water to escape. The model is all metallic, section cut and mounted on cast iron base.

17.       GREEN ECONOMISER                                                       

            it is an all metallic demonstration model to understand the working of a feed water heater. Complete with safety valve, scrapers, chains and pulleys. Flue passage i. e. all brick work is shown in wood work and the model is so dissectiable that the inner construction can be seen clearly. Approximately 45x30x25 cm in size.

18.       SUDEN SUPER HEATER                                                    

            Flue passage and all brick work is shown in wood work and the model is selected in such a manner that an inner section view can be studied. The overall size is about 30x30x20 cm.
